Stop Using Anti Perspirant Today... And Why!

Did you know that the antiperspirant most people use daily is actually classified as a drug per the FDA?

The culprit: Aluminum! Aluminum is the active ingredient that helps antiperspirants plug up the sweat glands and reduce your perspiration.

Ready for some science? The hypothesis on antiperspirants suggests that aluminum clogs your pores and increases estrogen in your body. Result:  Sweat can not escape!

Why is this a concern for women? The studies suggest that the chemicals in antiperspirants, including aluminum, are absorbed into the skin, particularly when the skin is nicked during shaving. These studies claim that those chemicals may then interact with DNA and lead to cancerous changes in cells, or interfere with the action of the female hormone estrogen, which is known to influence the growth of breast cancer cells. I know... crazy. Leaning all of that really blew my mind.
Remember, the skin absorbs at least 60 percent of products you absorb topically. And what we put under our arms is on a daily, consistent basis... which then in my mind is a lot of chemicals, even if it is only 60 percent absorbed!

You may be thinking, "But what happens without the antiperspirant (aluminum)?" You are left with deodorant. I will tell you that this takes some getting used to. You may notice your real smell coming through your under arms. Oh my!  It’s OK, I promise. This is for your health and wellness. Once your body has the means to excrete toxins without covering them up with anti perspirant, you will notice that your odor shifts for the better. Think about how that film has been blocking pathways of toxins you have been taking in from some crappy nutrients, products and environmental factors. It's time to let them out, wouldn't you agree!?

Lets go back 10 years ago! I was noticing that the drugstore-bought deodorant/antiperspirants was not working for me anymore.

Here were the tell tale signs:

  • Itchy pits

  • A perfume mask of lavender, musk, etc after I worked out

  • Film that stayed till scrubbed off

  • Occasional rash

  • Clogged pores

Ugh! I was at a loss, so I decided to play with all kinds of natural deodorants minus the antiperspirant after learning that the antiperspirant was causing those unpleasant symptoms listed above.

Let's skip to present day! After searching and searching I found my favorite armpit friend!

Look at these amazing ingredients:

  • Organic Coconut Oil: Anti fungal & added moisture.

  • Shea Butter: Nourishing your skin with natural vitamins and fatty acids.

  • Natural Beeswax: Improves elasticity and will NOT clog your pores.

  • Baking Soda: This is in place of aluminum… it is an natural exfoliator and balances the acid in the body.

  • Kaolin Clay: Pulls impurities from the pores which prevents clogging and breakouts.

  • Tapioca Starch: Delivers a smooth after-feel to skin.

  • Blend of Essential oils: This is your scent to chose from. My favorite is the Frankincense Peach Freedom Stick!

The reason I am so excited to share with you is this has been my go-to for the last 3 months. After years of using many, many natural deodorants, I have found one I know I'll be sticking with! No itching, stinky smell, rash, clogged pores or filmy feeling! And best of all, no cancer agents entering my body or blocking the toxins from escaping!

To natural pits, XO

PS: I have been blogging and suggesting a wide variety of all-natural products this year. Why? Because as you read above, they are just as important as the food you ingest -- whether they be skincare, makeup, environmental products, supplements, or other! As always, send feedback my way on how YOU live a whole & healthy lifestyle!
