a new reason to move our bodies

Let’s navigate the “new norm” when it comes to our Movement. I believe we have an opportunity NOW to shift our workouts not only in a physical sense but more importantly, exercising to benefit our emotional well-being!

So much has changed in such a short time.  Life has become about “being” in the present moment rather than “doing”. Running circles, rushing, and jam packed schedules resulted in moving further and further away from the present. Having more time is something we have all yearned for. Careful what we wish for…. Time is on our side now!

Improving our bodies one drink at a time

Now with an array of online classes being offered we can really lean in, in the comfort of our own homes. My motto is, “start to experiment and experience with different movements.” Whether you normally spin, strength train, run, walk, barre or are a cardio addict, it is important to remember to find JOY in what you are doing. So, finding movement that nourishes your mind, body and soul is imperative. Stick to what you love or try something NEW, you have a choice during this time!

With that said, I believe the first step is to be cognizant of the benefits that movement provides for our human body... our mind included.

Research shows that only 30 minutes of movement a day can lower blood pressure, cholesterol, inflammation and weight gain thus raising our immune response.

At this present time I believe in the importance of reframing the mindset of why we actually exercise.

Try this

My suggestion is to begin to start scheduling your movement. Scheduling your movement into your calendar will begin to give you some structure.  Hang a do not disturb sign on your door and shut down messages coming in on your phone or computer. Label this “your time” to nourish your mind and body.  If a thought comes in that is self defeating, become aware of it and then Reframe the negative thought with something that is of service to your overall well being. Try this simple practice below.

Stuck pattern of thinking

  • I exercise to be skinny

  • I exercise to combat overeating

  • I exercise to challenge myself

  • I exercise to lose weight

  • It’s so challenging to workout at home

Reframe

  • I exercise for a strong mind & body

  • I exercise to nourish my body

  • I exercise to find time to reflect

  • I exercise to finding joy in movement

  • I honor my commitment to move

My greatest awareness when it comes to movement is breathing. The more we breathe, the more cellular regeneration takes place, which delivers more oxygen to our brain, organs, and nervous system.  This enhances the benefits of your workout and our overall immune system. Let’s find the silver lining in all of our movement. Switch it up!

Take a deep breath and engage in what makes you happy from the inside out.
